A further 36 people have died in Greater Manchester's hospitals after testing positive for coronavirus.

The region's hospital death toll has risen to 5,122, the latest NHS figures show.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust recorded another 21 deaths in the latest reporting period.

Another four people have died at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust, and another five lives have been lost at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

A further three people have died at Wrightington, Wigan, and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust.

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust recorded another two deaths.

One more person has also died at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Thursday, February 4, are:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 563 (+4)
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 986 (+21)
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,406 (+5)
  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7
  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 434
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 457
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 516 (+2)
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 23 (+1)
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 714 (+3)

In England, a futher 630 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital.

That brings the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals to 74,249 NHS England said on Thursday.

Patients were aged between seven and 102. All except 30, aged between 40 and 99, had known underlying health conditions.

The deaths were between January 4 and February 3, with the majority being on or after 29 January.

There were 42 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
