A further 22 people have died with coronavirus in Greater Manchester's hospitals

A further 22 people have died in hospitals across Greater Manchester after contracting coronavirus, NHS figures revealed today.

They include nine more deaths at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust and seven at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

Nationally, the NHS reported on Tuesday a further 405 deaths in hospitals of patients who tested positive for the virus.

The figure brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 46,983.

In the north west region, a further 64 deaths were reported today.

The NHS said in a statement: "Patients were aged between 26 and 100 years old.

"All except 13 - aged 54 to 90 years old - didn't have known underlying health conditions.

"Date of death ranges from July 2 to December 21, 2020, with the majority being on or after 18 December.

"Their families have been informed."

Two more deaths were reported at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, the figures revealed.

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust both also suffered a further death.

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 19

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 550
