A bushfire has broken out in Tralee, in pines east of the ACT on the Monaro Highway, opposite the Johnson Drive intersection into Tuggeranong.
The Tralee fire was at watch and act on Tuesday morning but has since been downgraded to advice.
It was moving in an easterly direction and had burnt two hectares.
It broke out this morning, but crews had no indication as to what started the blaze, RFS public liaison officer Fiona Amundson said.
Multiple crews were on site fighting the blaze.
"At the moment the ACT RFS is there for support and a helicopter is dropping water," Ms Amundson said.
The fire is currently burning in an easterly direction, away from the ACT but a southerly change is expected tonight. Ms Amundson said fire behaviour was "erratic" on Tuesday and it was unclear whether the fire would be pushed to the ACT border.
Those in the community of Fernleigh are closest to the fire and were asked to remain watchful, as were those in Little Burra and Googong.
It comes amid a day of severe fire danger for the region with a total fire ban in the ACT.
Ms Amundson said the fire would remain and watch and act until they had it contained.
