Police say a fight broke out on the M6 motorway following a crash this afternoon.
The collision happened on the northbound carriageway near the Thelwall viaduct in Lymm, Warrington.
According to police, a fight then broke out between the parties in lanes three and four.
Officers were called but were hindered from getting to the scene by other drivers ignoring red Xs advising them of lane closures.
Those flouting the rules have been warned they were tracked by number plate recognition technology and can expect a fine coming in the post.

North West Motorway Police vented their anger via their official Twitter account, writing: "Two lanes closed on the M6 NB Thelwall viaduct due to an RTC.
"Police in attendance assisting Highways but impeded getting to scene due to motorists ignoring the red X's."
