A festival of 'new masculinity' featuring Professor Green is coming to Shoreditch

A number of DJs, broadcasters and musicians will join forces to host a new festival of 'new masculinity' this month.

Event series MENtal Health will run at Shoreditch hotspots The Book Club and Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, from now until the end of March.

The programme features a vast array of activities tackling male mental health, from brunches and panel talks to gigs, with all ticket sales going to the suicide prevention charity CALM.

Professor Green will host a live podcast on January 16 titled ‘Learning to Adult Slowly’ with a number of special guests who are yet to be announced. Other famous names taking part include Jamal Edwards, and DJ Hugh Rankin.

Other highlights include a penis gallery, named the Night of 1,000 Cocks, which will close the event in March and aims to promote body positivity.

The three-month event is in collaboration with The Book of Man Magazine, High Rankin and Flower Up, and will be hosted by Shoreditch events collective SuperCulture.

Jenna Al-Ansari, an event organiser for Superculture, said: “Our upcoming Wellness quarter will feature residents addressing the core issues of mental health and deconstructing toxic masculinity from within, hearing from men, women and non-binary people on the frontline of changing this culture."

Tickets to the Professor Green podcast can be purchased at hoxtonsquarebar.com
