Adrien Kouadio is a cocoa farmer from Cote d’Ivoire who loves his Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa cooperative, his family, his community and, of course, soccer.
Late last spring, Kouadio embarked on a transatlantic fact-finding mission, following his cocoa beans from his farm to the port of Abidjan, then across the sea to a chocolate factory in England, and finally to a London grocery shop, where he plucked some Rainforest Alliance Certified chocolate off the shelves to bring home to his family and his fellow cooperative members.
His conclusion after traveling the length of the cocoa supply chain and having meetings with other workers along the way? “It’s like a soccer team,” he said. “We all have to play together.”
He’s right. We’re all in this together, along with Kouadio, who farms his land in ways that will benefit his family – and the planet – for generations to come. And he’s in it with everyone who supports healthy land and healthy farming communities through everyday choices.
