'A fantastic example' - Sheffield United boss hails ex-Nottingham Forest star

Former Nottingham Forest academy graduate Ben Osborn is a fantastic example to the rest of his Sheffield United colleagues, according to boss Chris Wilder.

Osborn, who left the City Ground last summer in a £3m move has had to be patient for his chance in the Premier League, but has certainly grabbed it with both hands once it came along.

The Derby-born ex-Red only made an impressive debut last month against Tottenham Hotspur and hasn’t looked back, taking advantage of an injury to John Fleck and keeping his place in a competitive midfield.

Since coming into the Blades’ side, Osborn has helped Wilder’s men take 10 points from games against Spurs, Burnley, Wolves and Chelsea earning him rave reviews from supporters as the Steel City club mount a surprise attack on a European place.

“He has been excellent,” said Wilder, speaking ahead of Thursday’s clash at Leicester City.

“It is not always easy being up and down the country watching the team play well with Fleck and Enda (Stevens), but his professionalism has been amazing.

“The work they do in training and in the gym to make sure they are right.

“He is a fantastic example to any of the players that when the door opens, you have to be ready, physically and mentally, to take the chance and he has done that with both hands.”
