A driver is fighting for his life after his car ploughed into a building in Wigan

A driver is fighting for his life in hospital after his car ploughed into a building in Wigan.

Emergency services scrambled to Pottery Road after a silver Nissan Micra left the road and smashed into a building.

The driver, who is believed to be in his 20s, was taken to hospital.

A statement released by Greater Manchester Police said he remains in a critical condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident which took place last night at 9.20pm.

PC Mark Ratcliffe, from GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “The driver has sustained life-threatening injuries and our thoughts are with him and his family at this difficult time.

“As our investigations continue into the circumstances of the collision, we are appealing for witnesses who saw the silver Nissan Micra and anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the vehicle to come forward.”
