This was the scene after a drink driver 'got it spectacularly wrong' and careered off the Mancunian Way.
Police say both the Audi driver and their passenger were trapped in the car after it ploughed into the undergrowth.
Remarkably neither person was injured although, police said, 'when the alcohol wears off they might be sore'.
The crash took place on the ring road overnight.
Pictures from the scene show a crane lifting the white Audi from in amongst trees off the side of the road.
GMP Traffic tweeted: "Vehicle recovered from the Mancunian Way after the driver got it spectacularly wrong over night trapping both themself and passenger.
"Luckily there were no injuries however when the alcohol wears off they might be sore. #nonefortheroad #fatal5."
