'A dream!' - West Ham fans send Sergio Ramos transfer message after Real Madrid announcement

Sergio Ramos is set to leave Real Madrid at the end of June following 16 trophy-laden years at the Bernabeu.

The 180-capped Spain international will be available to join a new club on a free transfer from July 1 and many West Ham fans have been calling on the club to make a surprise move for the legendary defender.

Ramos is one of the most experienced defenders in world football with an astonishing 22 trophies in the white of Real, on top of the World Cup and two European Championships for Spain.

Reports have surfaced that Ramos is open to a move to either London or Paris and that has got Hammers fans dreaming.

Ramos is one of the highest-paid players in Madrid, taking home a salary in the region of £312,000 per week, making any move from West Ham extremely unlikely.

The 35-year-old is leaving Madrid due to being unable to agree a two-year deal at the club, who only wanted to offer the defender a 12-month contract.

West Ham fans are not the only supporters desperate to see the Spaniard at their club, with followers of Arsenal urging Mikel Arteta to move for his countryman.

Ramos would not come risk-free for his new club, wherever that may be, after making just seven appearances in 2021 due to injury.

The veteran centre-back was unable to recover in time to make Luis Enrique's Spain squad for Euro 2020. The first time since 2006 that Ramos was not included in the Spain squad for a major tournament.
