'A dream fulfilled' - Jack Clarke's final Leeds United goodbye

Millions of people have dreamt of playing for Leeds United during its 100 years, but Jack Clarke is one of the very select few who fulfilled that desire, as he put it today.

In a parting message to the Elland Road club, team-mates, staff and fans, the 19-year-old reflected upon the honour it was playing for the Whites.

Technically, Clarke left the club which crafted him into a professional footballer in the summer, but with the end of his return on loan, this is a permanent goodbye.

Clarke leaves Elland Road with 28 competitive, senior appearances to his name since he made his professional debut on October 6 against Brentford last year.

Posting on Twitter, Clarke said: “Was always a dream of mine too play for Leeds United: a dream I managed to fulfil and I will be forever thankful for.

“I would like to thank the club, staff and all the players I’ve learnt from and got to know over the years. I wish the club and the fans all the very best in the future.”

The transfer window opens in four days’ time, during which it is expected Clarke will be loaned out by Tottenham Hotspur again.
