A Doctor Who escape room is launching online for fans during lockdown

The group behind some of the best escape rooms in the country has today announced it is moving two of its experiences online, including a room themed around Doctor Who.

While the Escape Hunt premises remain shut during lockdown, the group is allowing players to experience the games virtually, with participants controlling a character remotely as they attempt to escape a locked room.

Teams will be in charge of directing virtual players around the rooms to find hidden clues and solve puzzles before time runs out.

The Doctor Who: Words Collide experience sees participants attempt to prevent a Cybermen invasion. Players will be tasked with mending a tear in space and time caused by the experiments from an eccentric billionaire, hoping to save the human race from the brink of destruction.

The second experience, titled The Fourth Samurai, sees players transported to ancient Japan, with players instructed by the emperor to defeat evil warlord Tanaka Masamune. Players must attempt to escape a dungeon in order to harness the power of a magical stone in the game.

Both games last one hour and can be played by up to six players over the age of eight. Tickets for both games are both set at £60, regardless of group size.

Richard Harpham, CEO Escape Hunt PLC, says “We’re delighted to be expanding our range of at home experiences with remote play games. It’s fantastic that now, using technology, we can give people the opportunity to play our much-loved physical escape rooms in their own homes.”
