'A disgrace to football!' - Nottingham Forest academy graduate slammed for simulation

Nottingham Forest academy graduate Patrick Bamford has been called an 'embarrassment' by Sky Sports pundits after Leeds United's clash with Aston Villa turned ugly in the second half.

The hosts needed nothing short of a victory at Elland Road to keep their hopes of automatic promotion to the Premier League alive.

Leeds' Mateusz Klich controversially gave his side the lead with 20 minutes to go, just as Villa players called for the ball to be put out of play so that the injured Jonathan Kodjia could receive treatment.

Nottingham Forest fans are loving what this man did against QPR

Klich's goal sparked a brawl in the penalty area which resulted in Villa defender Anwar El Ghazi, a man who has been in inspired form for the Villains in recent weeks, being shown a red card for an alleged elbow on Bamford.

However, replays soon showed that there had been no contact between El Ghazi's arm and Bamford's face, angering supporters.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson was outraged by the incident and has called for the EFL to rescind the red card, with important play-off games around the corner.

“It was embarrassing. Absolutely embarrassing," said Paul Robinson at full time.

"You can’t blame the referee for this, as it was his linesman. He’s the one who is watching this.

"He sees an arm and Patrick Bamford behaves like that. I’ll not defend players as they shouldn’t be fighting or putting your arms up.

"The way that Patrick Bamford reacts is ungentlemanly conduct in itself.

"El Ghazi's red card will be rescinded."

When play resumed, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa ordered his players to allow the visitors to equaliser - and that was how the game would end - but that did nothing to calm supporters down on social media, with Reds fans quick to condemn the behaviour of their former star.
