A Crushing Defeat for Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan

For the first time in 26 years, the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan suffered an overwhelming defeat in the elections of a president and members of the board of directors of the Jordanian Engineers Association, which is one of the largest professional syndicates in terms of number, presence and influence in Jordan.

The association was one of the largest strongholds of the Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan and for many years was under the group's control.

In the elections on Friday, engineer Ahmad Samara al-Zubi won the presidency of the association defeating engineer Abdullah Obeidat. Engineer Fawzi Masaad won the position of the vice president, as the members who won were: Bashar Tarawnah, Sari Zaaiter, Ahmad Siyam, Raed Sharaji, Abdulbaset Saleh, Malek Amayrah, Samir Sheikh and Mohammad Mahamid.
