'A crazy day' - What Borja Baston said about his transfer deadline day move from Swansea City to Aston Villa

Borja Baston says the size of Aston Villa as a club played a key role in his deadline move to Dean Smith's side from Swansea City.

The Spanish forward's contract with Swansea was due to expire in the summer, and the Swans have been keen to see him depart the Liberty Stadium for some time for financial reasons.

Following a blistering start to the campaign in which he netted five goals in the opening month, Borja's form drastically dipped, with the 27-year-old falling behind Sam Surridge and then Rhian Brewster in the pecking order.

He secured a move to the Midlands in the final hours of transfer deadline day.

And the former Atletico Madrid frontman admits his exit from SA1 came very suddenly.

"I'm very happy to sign for Aston Villa. It's a big club," he told Sky Sports.

"It was a very hard day. A crazy day. For me it's a great option. I am so happy.

"I want to say I will work hard every day on the training ground and in the games.

"I hope to score goals for the team and it's more important that Aston Villa are playing in the Premier League."

Borja netted six goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for the Swans under Steve Cooper.

His only other goal for the club came under Bob Bradley in October 2016.
