A craft beer bar and shop has opened in a former Llanelli factory

A craft beer shop and bar with 500 varieties of beer on offer has opened in a former factory in Llanelli.

Beer Park is primarily a bottle shop with beers, ciders, lagers, stouts and pale ales, all on offer but there is also a bar and local and national delivery service too.

Based in Dafen Trade Park, the venue is set on the site of the former boat manufacturing factory Avon Inflatables which closed in 2013.

Owner David Timbrell-Hill, 55, from Llanelli, said his aim is to get a beer from every Welsh brewery.

He said: "I'm trying to get a beer from every Welsh brewery at the moment. There are 94 and we've got 50 so far so we have 120 different Welsh beers from those 50 brewers, alongside a large range of Belgian and German beers and the best of the world's craft beers."

Mr Timbrell-Hill explained that there will also be tasting events at the venue (David Timbrell-Hill)

Mr Timbrell-Hill said: "My objective was to combine a bottle shop, taproom and beer warehouse into a single venue providing a great place to buy and drink beer and meet fellow beer lovers.

"I wanted it to be accessible from the motorway and have parking. I think it is something that was massively lacking in Llanelli as there was nowhere that offered a range of beers like this. Lots of people love Belgian beers but they've not been able to get them but people can come here and try them and ones you've not had before.

"The response here has been fantastic. Ever since we opened we've had people driving from Bridgend and Newport and holidaymakers coming in from Saundersfoot to choose from our great range."

The venue is open between 12-6pm on Wednesday and Thursday, 12-7pm on Friday, 10am-7pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday. You can find out more on its website.
