A council in our region has launched a huge recruitment drive for new members of staff - and the pay terms on offer are surprisingly good.
Halton Borough Counc il are searching for people to fill 21 roles that have become available in the local area , ranging from kitchen assistants and fitness instructors to heads of departments.
The required experience differs for each, but all salaries are above minimum wage with the highest earning job offering a generous pay package of over £45,000.

CCTV Monitoring Operative
Halton council are looking for two part-time operators to work in the local authority's control room, which manages 150+ public CCTV cameras.
The role will require a 'proactive and re-active approach' to CCTV operation, to help the council reduce crime and disorder, according to the job description.
Ideal candidates will ideally be CCTV SIA licensed with experience working in a busy control room or operating CCTV. However , for those with less experience, full training will be provided.
The hours required are 24 or 32 per week, with pay equivalent to a full time salary of £18,795 - £19,171 (FTE).

Kitchen Assistant
This part-time role is ideal for someone looking for a few hours of work a week during term time.
As a Kitchen Assistant you will be joining the council's catering service providing school meals for pupils in Halton,
The required hours are 7.5 per week, offering a salary of £3,275.10 - £3,340.66.

Halton Council are also hiring qualified caterers to be based at Murdishaw West Community Primary School in Runcorn.
The part time / term time role offers a salary of £11,005 - £11,914, working 25 hours per week.
Candidates will need an NVQ in Food Preparation and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, as well as previous experience of working in a busy catering environment.

Chief Executive Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust
One of the highest paid jobs on offer, the Chief Executive of the Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust (MGET) Charity will be earning an annual salary of £42k.
The MGET was set up in 2010 to promote the conservation, protection, and improvement of the environment across a 1600ha area of the Upper Mersey Estuary running from Runcorn to Warrington.

The local authority have three posts for support workers, working either 15 hours, 16 hours or 24 hours.

The council's newly formed children's placement team is looking for a SEND contract officer to support the local authority in securing high quality, cost effective and customer care focussed external contracts and service level agreements.
he post will have "responsibility for the development and performance monitoring of all contracts commissioned to ensure positive outcomes for children, young people and their families" according to the job ad.

Another job available on the children's placement team is for a support officer to assist with the sourcing, monitoring and quality assuring of placements for children and young people in the care of Halton Borough Council.

Participation and Inclusion Officer
The Council are also looking to appoint a Participation and Inclusion Officer to work closely with their Children in Care and Care Leavers service.

Lollipop men and women are also wanted to help local children cross the road to school safely.

Senior Engineer Flood Risk Management
The council are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Senior Engineer to join Halton’s Highway Development team.
The job description described it as an idea opportunity "for a recently qualified graduate or the next step on the ladder if you have the relevant technical skills."
The salary on offer is £31,371 - £33,799.
The role will require repairing and implementing flood alleviation schemes, ensuring maintenance of flood risk assets and working with developers to reduce flood risk, whilst complying with relevant legislation and standards.
Technical Officer
Last but not least, the Service Improvement and Governance Division is seeking to recruit a Technical Officer to help support Halton Schools and Academies ICT support service.
The job will be based out of the Municipal Building in Widnes, providing support to schools throughout the borough.
