A Confession viewers left baffled by 'shocking' Swindon accents in ITV drama

Viewers of ITV's new true crime drama were left scratching their heads tonight thanks to something off about the acting in episode two.

The one off series follows detective Steve Fulcher's investigation into the death and disappearance of 22-year-old Sian O’Callaghan, from Swindon, in 2011 who days later was discovered murdered.

It has an all star cast, including Sherlock's Martin Freeman (Fulcher), Downton Abbey's Siobhan Finneran (Elaine Pickford) and Harry Potter's Imelda Staunton (Karen Edwards), who attempted to sound like locals.

And as the story unfolded many were confused at their attempts at Swindon accents, with many saying they were closer to Cornish or Bristolian.
