A comprehensive emoji breakdown of Breanna Stewart’s extremely confusing emoji-filled tweets ahead of WNBA Free Agency

Breanna Stewart is one of the best players in the WNBA, without a doubt. She’s a signature shoe athlete for a reason, y’all.

Stewie has only played 6 seasons in the W so far, but she’s already a 4-time All-Star and a two-time WNBA Champion. On top of that, she’s already an MVP and nearly won another one last season if not for the incredible season A’ja Wilson had.

And, now, she’s a free agent.

That’s right. Breanna Stewart — who has been a member of the Seattle Storm for her entire career so far — might actually be on the move. As one of the best players in the WNBA, that’s already going to have the entire league on edge.

It’s the same thing that happens when LeBron James or Kevin Durant becomes a free agent or demands a trade. It freezes up the entire league. No one knows what to do because whatever Stewie chooses to do will flip the league on its head — even with this being arguably the best free agent class the league has ever seen.

So, yeah. Things are a bit tense in the W right now. And Stewart is adding fuel to the fire…with emojis.

Stewart has been dropping tweets filled with emojis over the last few days as we get closer and closer to the start of free agency on January 21st. First, she dropped this tweet on January 16.

Then, she dropped this bad boy three days later on the 19th.

And nobody has any clue what any of it means. But don’t worry. That’s not going to stop us from breaking it down. Let’s dive into it.

It’s time for some…meaningless speculation!

Exhibit A

First, let’s start with the easy tweet. This one only has two emojis, so it can only mean so much while also meaning anything.

Wait, is this the easy one? Well, whatever. Let’s jump in.

OK. So, boom. We’ve got a calendar and we’ve got a chili pepper. Yup. That’s what we’ve got.

So, the calendar has months. Every single month falls in a season. You add the chili pepper to the equation next. Obviously, chili peppers are spicy. So this tweet means…SPICY SEASON. Otherwise known as spicy SZN if you’re born after 1996.

Boom. One down. One to go.

Exhibit B

OK. Uh, I’ll be honest with you all here. I have no idea what this one means. Let’s take a look.

So we’ve got a trophy, a baby bottle, a blane, a house, a money bag, a basketball and a wave. And somehow that equals a leopard, crocodile, crane, a plug, a virgo sign, two paw prints and a newspaper?

Stewie, what?

Alright, let’s start from the left side. So if we look back at Stewie’s life over the last few years, obviously, she wins a WNBA title to start things off in 2020. The baby bottle makes sense because she had a baby in 2021 with her wife, Marta Xargay.

The plane and the house, I have no idea. Maybe they bought a new house? The moneybag, basketball and waves might allude to her playing basketball overseason and getting a new deal.

That leaves the rest of the emojis and, well, *shrugs*. The animals plus the crane could mean a concrete jungle, which could make sense if Stewart is really considering playing for the New York Liberty. The rest of that? Man, your guess is as good as anyone else’s out there.

One thing is for certain, we’ll find out what all this means soon enough. She could just be playing a Blake Griffin here and it might all actually just be a cruel joke.

WNBA Free Agency is right around the corner, so we’ll have some answers soon.
