A child has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car at crossing

A child has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car this morning (Saturday 3 October) in Methil, Fife.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a child on Methilhaven Road, Methil, around 10.30am today.

"The boy was taken to hospital and recovery is being arranged for the vehicle."

A local Facebook page shared a photograph of the heavy police presence at the scene, with hundreds of people leaving comments expressing hope that the child makes a full recovery.

One woman wrote: "Hope everyone is OK. Such a shame for those involved, the driver must be traumatised at what happened."

It's believed that the accident involved a woman and her two young sons, and they were at a crossing when they were hit.

Another commenter said she had also been hit by a car at the same crossing in the past: "I got hit on same crossing a few years back if my wee girl was on the side I was on she would have been hospitalised and the driver just kept driving.

"Lucky I wasn't seriously hurt but sore leg and bad bruising."
