A cheese and cider festival is taking place in Gower next month

Not many things are better than sitting in the sunshine, pint in hand, spending time with your loved ones and listening to live music - and next month, people from across Swansea and Gower will be able to do just that, as the popular annual Gower Cheese and Cider Festival returns.

The event, also known as the Gower Cider and Music Festival, will be taking over the grounds of the Gower Heritage Centre in Parkmill village from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21 and tickets are now available to purchase online.

Throughout the weekend, there will be dozens of cheeses and ciders to sample and purchase - and several talented local musicians will be performing live music too. The event has been running for several years now and is particularly popular with families and groups of friends - and locals certainly have their fingers-crossed for good weather this year!

The Gower Heritage Centre is a visitor attraction and rural life and farming museum that's centred around a rare fully-operational 12th century water-powered mill. It's home to Shed Head Cider, which makes cider on-site with 100% juice and wild Gower yeast, a children's play area, and a shop selling local produce and handmade gifts. The centre hosts regular craft workshops and special events, including the family-friendly Pirates Day, the Cider and Cheese Festival, and the Gower Bluegrass Festival which is due to take place in September.

The centre also recently added "resident cheese makers" to its offerings. Cheese-makers Alan and Angela moved form Hertfordshire to Gower in the pandemic - and brought their herd of milking goats with them. They make goats cheese and sell it to the public under their unforgettable brand name Wobbly Bottom Cheese, and will serving a selection of Welsh cheeses during the festival.

The full line-up of singers and bands performing live music at this year's Cheese and Cider Festival is being finalised and will be released nearer the time. But among the the bands already confirmed, the festival will see performances from the Balkaneers, Soul Skunk, Jack Dawgs, The Right Honourables and Hela.
