The completion ceremony for the Tokyo Aquatics Centre in Koto Ward, Tokyo, the venue for competitive swimming at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, was held on Saturday. Champion swimmer Rikako Ikee, 20, and others took part in the first swim, and Japan's national team for Artistic Swimming also showed splendid performances.

The Tokyo metropolitan government spent 56.7 billion yen to construct the facility. It was completed in February, but the ceremony was postponed due to the coronavirus crisis. The main pool's walls and floor are movable, allowing its length and depth to be adjusted as needed. There is also a diving well with multiple platforms and diving boards.

Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike said at the ceremony, "We will prepare for a safe and secure Games."
