A celebration of Asian cuisines at So Amazing Chefs

So Amazing Chefs 2022 returns for its 10th year with a line-up of 10 chefs and culinary masters for a gastronomic discovery and celebration of Asian cuisines from Nov 1-6, at So/Bangkok on Rama IV Road.

The week-long culinary extravaganza includes masterclasses, a mixologist night, a cheese spread unlike any other, a Sunday brunch and exclusive fine-dining experiences. The event will be hosted by celebrity chef Bobby Chinn and kicks off on Nov 1 with a masterclass (10am-12pm, B990++) by chef Peter Cuong Franklin from Anăn Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. A pioneer of modern Vietnamese and Asian cuisine, at Anăn Saigon, chef Franklin combines Southeast Asian street-food flavours with contemporary international techniques.

Also on Nov 1, for one-night only, Cheese So/The So Amazing Chefs Edition (7-9pm, B1,000++ for cheese only, B1,400++ for cheese and wine) returns for connoisseurs to dive into. Master cheese affineurs Patrice and Philippe Marchand along with Éric Lefebvre, fromager from Les Frères Marchand, one of the oldest food artisans in France, will be in attendance. Cheese lovers will be able to experience the original flavour of Tomme du Père, a creation of Philippe Marchand, in addition to others such as Comte, Brillat-Savarin and raclette alongside artisan breads, cold cuts, charcuterie, trimmings, plus live DJ and saxophone performances. As always, a free-flow sommelier wine selection will be on pour.

On Nov 2, a masterclass (10am-12pm, B990++) by chef Chinn will see him share tips and secrets to perfecting one of his signature dishes — the Bún bò beef.

Nov 3 will see a six-hand dinner (6-9pm, B5,500++ for food only, B9,800++ with wine pairing and a Champagne reception from chefs Franklin, Kai Ho from the two Michelin-starred Taïrroir restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan, and Andy Yang from Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu and Table 38 in Bangkok. Each chef will contribute two signature dishes to the six-course dinner paying homage to  Vietnamese, Taiwanese and Thai culinary cultures.

Nov 4 introduces one of Bangkok’s private dining experiences: Monster By Tong Chef's Table (6-9pm, B4,000++ for food only, B6,000++ with a cocktail pairing). Upcoming culinary talent chef Tong Nandhabiwat together with So/Bangkok’s mixologists will create an eight-course dinner, pairing cocktails with contemporary cuisine, fusing Japanese, Mediterranean and local ingredients.

Discover the modern flavours of Vietnam on Nov 5 with chefs Franklin and Chinn elevating street food-inspired Vietnamese dishes in a six-course lunch (noon to 3pm, B4,708++ for food only, B6,827++ with wine pairing).

‘Memories On A Plate’ is the name of the game on Nov 4-5, which brings Taiwanese chef  Ho for an exclusive four-hands collaborative dinner with chef Pam Utharntharm from restaurant Potong (6-9pm, B5,500++ for food only, B8,888++ with wine pairing). For the first time, So/Bangkok will be hosting a So Amazing Chefs dining experience out of the hotel for an  immersive multi-sensory experience at restaurant Potong, which is set in a historical Sino-Portuguese building in Yaowarat. 

The weeklong epicurean celebration culminates with the So Amazing Chefs edition of the So Amazing Sunday Brunch (noon to 3pm, B2,500++ for food and juices, B3,999++ with wine). Nine of this year’s chefs and masters, Chinn, Andy, Ho, Pam, Franklin, James Noble, Tong, and the Marchand brothers,  will take over the kitchen at Red Oven to serve gourmet dishes from their stations. The finale is a special live music performance by chef Chinn and his band!
