Metrolink line is back up and running after a car broke down on the tracks in Droylsden

Tram services have now returned to normal on the Ashton line after a car broke down on the tracks at Droylsden.

Metrolink was only able to run services between Eccles and Droylsden for a time on Tuesday, after the line became blocked.

Passengers  were advised to use their tickets on a number of bus services instead.

Metrolink Tweeted: "Due to a broken down car blocking the track at Droylsden we currently cannot operate between Ashton and Droylsden.

"Tram services are operating Eccles to Droylsden ONLY.

"Passengers can use tickets & passes on the 216 and 217 bus services.

"Please check back for updates."

The incident was resolved and normal service resumed shortly before 2pm.
