A car got crushed between a lorry and the central reservation on the M62 - incredibly no-one was seriously injured

This was the scene following following a crash which closed the M62 this afternoon.

A car got crushed between a lorry and the central reservation at Simister Island.

But incredibly no-one was seriously injured.

The eastbound motorway was closed for around an hour following the smash just after 1pm.

Police, ambulance and the fire service all attended the incident, which caused huge tailbacks in the area.

But thankfully, one of the drivers suffered only minor injuries, with the other walking away unharmed.

North West Motorway Police tweeted this photo of the incident with the message: "This was the scene faced by emergency services and partner agencies earlier on the M62 between J18 & J19.

"Yes, that is a car between the HGV and central reserve!

"Thankfully only minor injuries received by the driver of one vehicle, enquiries ongoing."
