A cafe or a baby shop: What shoppers want to see replace former Burger King in Nottingham city centre

A shop similar to Mother Care or a cafe are among suggestions to replace the former Burger King restaurant in Upper Parliament Street.

The building, opposite the main entrance to the Victoria Centre, has been vacant for months since the fast food chain closed.

The building is advertised as being available To Let.

And shoppers gave their thoughts on what they feel should open within the building.

Suggestions ranged from a store similar to Mother Care to a cafe.

Mark Douglas, 27, a delivery driver from Nottingham, said: “There’s homeless people that sleep in the doorway here sometimes.

"I don’t know if it's the same guy or different people but it would be nice to have a nice, a cheap cafe, so that when they get change, they can come in here."

Retired Jeff White, 77, who lives in Kirby-in-Ashfield and was checking out the sales in the city centre, said: “I’m not sure and it’s a shame the space is going to waste because it looks big in there.

"I don’t particularly like Burger King and I don’t particularly want to see more takeaways so another shop - something similar to a Wilko.”

Vicky Jones, 28, a waitress from Derby said: “It’ll either be a restaurant or a shop, I don’t think it would be anything else. It’s tricky. Maybe a shop like Mother Care, I know they don’t have many stores anymore and a lot of it is online so I would go for that."
