A bus driver was attacked in Wishaw when he told a rowdy passenger to get off.
Daniel Nolan, who has a long list of previous convictions, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
He admitted punching his victim on a bus in Kirk Road on February 26 last year.
An allegation that he shouted, punched a perspex screen, and jumped on seats was dropped.
Nolan, of Kilmeny Crescent, Coltness, also admitted kicking a police officer after his arrest.
The 36-year-old had been freed on bail at the same court only a month earlier.
The bus assault happened at 5.25pm.
Aga Mathieson, prosecuting, told the court: "Due to the accused's demeanour during the journey, the bus driver stopped and asked him to leave.
"An argument ensued and Nolan punched the driver on the face. He was wearing glasses and sustained scratches to his forehead as a result.
"Police officers were passing by and witnessed the end of the assault.
"The accused kicked an officer on the shin at Motherwell police station."
Sheriff Colin Dunipace deferred sentence for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment.
