‘A bully’: Internet turns on Laken Snelling, the former Kentucky cheerleader with a dead newborn in her closet, over ‘mean girl’ allegations

The internet has turned against Laken Snelling, the 21-year-old former University of Kentucky competitive cheerleader, amid allegations of past “mean girl” behavior.

Authorities arrested Snelling, once a senior at the University of Kentucky and a member of the STUNT cheer team, on August 31, 2025. Her roommate discovered her newborn baby boy wrapped in a towel and hidden inside a black trash bag in her closet and called the police. She allegedly admitted to giving birth, cleaning up evidence, and concealing the infant’s body.

“She is not a nice person and never has been”

As news of the deceased infant spread, so too did resurfaced claims from anonymous former classmates portraying Snelling as a bully, possibly typifying a “mean girl” persona.

One post said, “Laken Snelling has been a bully to a lot of people over the years. I have been reading various comments made about her for days. None of them are good. The overall consensus is that she is not a nice person and never has been.”

The same person later added, “There was also the one time in high school that Laken Snelling tried to run over another student with her Jeep. The bullying of that girl became so bad that she had to change schools. Laken clearly does not have empathy for other people.” These statements remain unconfirmed allegations.

In response to these posts, one comment said, “We have to make sure we don’t turn into the bullies or mean girls, now. She deserves fairness and not being bullied, no matter how she acted in the past, she is a young girl.”

Snelling’s charges

Officials have charged Snelling with abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and concealing the birth of an infant. A preliminary autopsy yielded inconclusive results, leaving the exact cause of death unresolved.

Following the scandal, she either dropped out or was withdrawn from the University of Kentucky, with the university confirming she is no longer enrolled or active on the STUNT team.

Snelling was romantically involved with fellow UK student Conner Jordan, according to social media posts showing them together. However, authorities and credible sources have not confirmed that he is the father of the child. No paternity tests or legal documents have verified his involvement.

Following Snelling’s arrest, Jordan reportedly deleted his social media accounts and has not made any public statements regarding the relationship or the infant. As of now, the father’s identity and potential role in the situation remain unknown.

Snelling pleaded not guilty during her court appearance on September 2, 2025, and was released on $100,000 bond. She remains under house arrest at her parents’ home in Tennessee, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 26.
