A story about someone deleting all the wedding photos of her sister from her cloud is something certain to make someone form an opinion even before hearing anything else. But a Reddit post gave this exact situation so much nuance that by the end of her explanation, people were celebrating her for being a petty queen.
First and foremost, no one single falling out is ever going to be enough reason for someone to cut off their family. There was a recent instance where a college graduate found out her parents had been using her social security number since she was 12 to apply for loans. That certainly was a good enough reason for someone to cut off their family — or at least take an elongated break from day-to-day interactions.
This particular story can be mistaken as a case of jealousy but according to a retelling by People, this entire debacle started when the sister, 28, decided to move away from her hometown. The bride was mad at her because their mother has a disability and this move would place her too far away to help with caretaking.
After a while, the sister had to move back home because their mother’s condition kept getting worse. But that only made the quarrel between them also worse. The bride started noticeably stepping back from taking care of their mother. That only further fractured their relationship.
On Oct. 26, 2024, the bride finally had her wedding. But at the time she was having yet another tiff with her sister and consequently, she wasn’t invited to the wedding. Somehow, the bride still gave her sister the responsibility of editing the pictures of the wedding she didn’t attend and perhaps even more strangely — the sister kept the photos for an entire year, plenty of time for the two to find something else to fight about considering their run.
This October, their mother was unwell again. This time around she needed surgery and again, the sister felt that the bride was not helping enough with their mother’s recovery. The animosity spilled over to this year’s eventful Halloween when the two sisters were arguing about their children’s trick or treat schedule. It’s somewhere around this point that the bride disrespected the sister in front of their children. After cooling down somewhat, the sister went to seek an apology from the bride. And if there’s one thing Sydney Sweeney has taught the world this year, it’s if you have to seek an apology from someone, you probably won’t get it. And the sister didn’t get the apology she sought.
The sister went home and deleted the photos of the wedding. They have seemingly decided to go no contact again. But it’s difficult to imagine how they’ll manage to keep things that way considering they still have their mother to take care of. Regardless, people in the comments were quite excited about the sister’s choices. One commenter said, “Agreed.
