'A break' - Chris Hughton gives his verdict on late drama in Nottingham Forest win over Coventry City

Chris Hughton admits fortune might well have favoured Nottingham Forest as they beat Coventry City in dramatic fashion on Wednesday night.

The Reds came under pressure in the second half at the City Ground as Callum O'Hare cancelled out Scott McKenna's first half goal.

It looked set to end in a draw until Lyle Taylor was fouled by Kyle McFadzean in the box before the striker walked up and stroked in a penalty with the last kick.

The penalty decision was debatable but Hughton was pleased to see his team register a second win of the season.

"I didn't have the best angle. The referee did," he said of the decision deep into stoppage time.

"Certainly the lad's hand is up and from the the ref's positioning, he will know how much that impeded Lyle's run.

"It was very welcome. He kept his nerve well.

"It's been a difficult time getting goals and sometimes you want a break. I think we deserved something from the game.

"Whether we deserved to win or not is something different but I'll take it."

Forest were the better team in the first half but relied on Brice Samba's saves from O'Hare and Leo Ostigard to keep the Reds level, with Max Biamou also hitting the post at 1-0.

"In the end we got there. It was very much a game of two halves," Hughton said.

"We were good in the first half. We had a lot of ball in the final third but didn't make enough of the possession we had. Our build up play was good.

"We didn't start the second half well up against a well drilled Coventry team. It's a good feeling to get the win.

"We need to take that into the next game. For some reason we didn't start the second half well.

"There should have been a feel good factor. When they got the goal you might have thought if one side would win it was them.

"We steadied and it looked like it was ebbing to a draw until that last kick."
