NEW YORK _ It's time to join the club _ Club Monaco, that is. This Canadian retail concept with stores across the country is owned by Polo Ralph Lauren and specializes in mid-priced, high-end casual clothing, shoes and accessories for women and men. (Think J. Crew or Banana Republic, but more relaxed and unexpected.)
Don't have one nearby? Anyone can shop its latest looks online at ClubMonaco.com. Its spring collection was introduced at New York Fashion Week Friday night in the brand's global flagship store on Fifth Avenue. VIP guests included actress Drew Barrymore and Vogue's Grace Coddington. They were treated to champagne and light bites as they browsed the see now/buy now selections.
The collection's colorful patterns and peasant details were inspired by the documentary "Latcho Drom," which chronicles a family traveling from Romania to India. A few highlights: ballet flats with scalloped edges, flowing boho skirts, unassuming ruffles and all kinds of cold-shoulder tops. For men: classic trenches, striped shirting and subtle pops of florals.
