A boy who loves the Beatles came to Liverpool and Liverpool fell in love with him

A teenage Beatles fan's dream came true when a trip to the home of the Fab Four ended with him playing on the stage of the world-famous Cavern Club .

Logan Murphy fell in love with the band after listening to their hits in his dad's van.

And Liverpool appeared to fall in love with him too - with his dad thanking the city for the reception the 13-year-old received both when he performed at the Cavern and when he busked on the city's streets.

The talented youngster was brought to Liverpool for a summer holiday trip last week - with Logan and his family staying in the Beatles-themed Hard Days Night Hotel.

They had travelled from Workington, in Cumbria, because Logan had been keen to busk on the streets of the city centre.

And while he did perform to crowds of shoppers on Church Street - dressed in his Sergeant Pepper outfit - his highlight came after a visit to the Cavern on Monday led to him being offered the chance to perform at the landmark.

Proud dad, Lee Murphy, told the ECHO: "Logan asked us to take him down to Liverpool to busk - it was the first time he had ever busked. He had his Sergeant Pepper suit on and he went down really well.

"The people in Liverpool were really nice and he felt absolutely brilliant.

"We took him to the Cavern just to show him the venue and there was a guy on the stage. We got talking to him and he was brilliant with Logan. He made a fuss of him and Logan said it was his dream to play on the Cavern stage. He told him to come back tomorrow and he could have his dream."

On Tuesday Logan followed his hour of busking on Church Street with 20 minutes on stage at the Cavern.

Lee said: "It was really good and it went down really well. He was absolutely made up and he hasn't shut up about it... you can play all your life and not get on the Cavern . I never thought he would get on - we were in the right place at the right time. It was brilliant, I can't thank the Cavern enough."

Last week was not the first time Logan had performed to crowds, with his Beatles-inspired sets making him a regular at charity events around Cumbria.

But he was keen to add to his experience by performing in the city of his heroes.

Talking about his son's desire to busk in Liverpool, Lee said: "He said to me 'I don't care if I don't get any money, I just like to entertain people'. And he loves it. If someone comes up to him and asks for a photo he is buzzing, or if someone comes up to him and and says they like it, that means more to him."
