The incident happened on Monday at 3.48pm on the A4666 Hereford Road between Withy Lane and Buckholt.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Ambulance crews arrived to find a pedestrian, a boy, who had been involved in a collision with a bus.

"Sadly, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead on scene.”

The age of the boy, or any other details have not been released.

"With the support of West Midlands Ambulance Service, we responded with one emergency ambulance and two rapid response vehicles.”

The Monmouthshire Beacon reported that at least 10 police vehicles rushed to the scene and that police were turning away vehicles near the Haberdasher's girls' school.

Gwent Police have said they are liaising with the boy's family and a statement will be issued later today.
