A bottlenose dolphin leaps out of the water next to a boat off the coast of Wales

Incredible footage has captured the moment a dolphin leaps out of the sea off the coast of Wales. The bottlenose dolphin was seen breaching off the short of New Quay in Ceredigion on Monday, with two other dolphins tagging along during the journey.

The video was captured by Joshua Pedley - a wildlife guide with SeaMôr Dolphin Watching Boat Trips. It was filmed during one of their trips arranged for Ukrainian refugees, who were seeking refuge in the local area.

According to Mr Pedley, the moment was "just amazing". So far, the video has garnered over 200 likes on Twitter, with some describing the animals as "beautiful", while others praised them for being "super intuitive and smart".

The wildlife guide posted the video with a caption that said: "To put it simply.. EPIC!! What an amazing encounter. We ran a trip to take out some of the Ukrainian people who are seeking refuge here locally. And we had this happen! Just amazing. The dolphins definitely showed their support for Ukraine".

Speaking to WalesOnline, Mr Pedley added: "I have never seen dolphins breach in front of the boat like that before and I have been running these trips for four years now.

"It's important to note that we strictly abide by a marine code of conduct and we don’t go seeking dolphins out and chase them. They choose to come to us."

Britain’s biggest resident population of dolphins lives in Cardigan Bay with New Quay being the primary spot, according to Visit Wales. Certain boat trips around the area can take you to Aberporth, Mwnt, Cardigan Island and Cemaes Head, where there is a good chance of seeing dolphins.
