'A bit like Jack Grealish' - Tottenham fans cannot believe what Alfie Devine did vs Chelsea U18s

Tottenham Hotspur's Under-18s ended a three-game winless run in the Under-18s Premier League on Saturday morning with a bang, hammering Chelsea 6-1 away from home.

A hat-trick from Roshaun Mathurin, a brace from highly-rated striker Dane Scarlett and a solitary strike from Dermi Lusala, who opened the scoring after just six minutes, sealed a memorable victory for Spurs' youngsters, lifting them to within four points of Crystal Palace at the top of the table.

Mathurin scored his first goal via a free-kick before he added to his tally with two second half finishes.

Whilst the winger, who is only 17-years-old, was the star of the show, leaving Cobham with the match-ball underneath his arm, it was the performance of central-midfielder Alfie Devine that got Spurs' supporters talking on social media.

Jose Mourinho unsurprised Wilfried Zaha is fit to face Spurs

Devine, who scored his first senior goal for Spurs back in January, stepping off the bench in the 5-0 FA Cup win over non-league minnows Marine, delivered an impressive display in the attacking-midfield role, dictating the game and proving menacing for the Blues' defenders in front of him.

Although he didn't get a goal or an assist to show for his performance, the former Wigan Athletic youngster, who joined Spurs last summer, earned no shortage of plaudits from the Spurs supporters who watched the contest, with one supporter comparing him to Christian Eriksen, who spent several seasons weaving his magic in a Tottenham shirt.

Below, football.london has taken a close look at what some Spurs fans have had to say on the 16-year-old's dazzling display against the Blues.

To have drawn comparisons with Jack Grealish and Eriksen speaks volumes about the potential Devine has within his locker, especially when he is only 16-years-old.

Devine has only featured for the first-team once so far, but if he continues to impress at youth level there is a good chance that he will soon sneak into Jose Mourinho's plans, especially when the Portuguese chief has been keen to hand opportunities to youngsters in the Europa League recently.
