'A bit divided' - What midfielder linked with Bristol City and Nottingham Forest has said about future

A rumoured target of Bristol City has said he is open to a move abroad.

The Robins were linked with Nimes midfielder Theo Valls over the weekend, but face competition from Nottingham Forest and Brentford for his signature.

Valls will become a free agent this summer after failing to agree a new contract with Nimes and, in a boost to City and their Championship rivals, has revealed he would be interested in a move away from France.

He said to La Provence last month: "For me, it's going to be a big change. It will be a whole new life, even, and I have already prepared myself in my head.

"An experience outside France? Why not? I am clearly open to that, too.

"It would be interesting. But whether in France or abroad, things will progress more, of course, when we are fixed on the situation linked to the health crisis which, for the moment, upsets all the data of the current season."

Yet the 24-year-old admits there is some sadness at leaving his boyhood club.

He said: "I am a bit divided. I was in Nîmes, obviously.

"Besides, last summer, one year before the end of my contract, I had clearly expressed the wish to extend, but as the season progressed, there were things that made me evolve in my thinking and I felt the desire to discover something else, especially since no agreement was found.

"Therefore, for me, it was not consistent."

He added: "My beautiful adventure with Nîmes will soon end, but at the same time, I am happy and enthusiastic, too, at the idea of leaving.

"I had a great time with the Nîmes Olympique and I have no regrets.

"I will keep fabulous memories of it, because it is a club that is dear to me: I have always given my all for this jersey.

"I was trained at Nîmes. So far, I have known only this club."
