When Nottingham Forest added Brice Samba to their ranks in the summer, there was some debate among supporters about whether another goalkeeper was needed at the City Ground.
But the former Caen stopper has proved to be a very astute acquisition by the Reds.
Not short on character or ability, Samba has quickly become a fans’ favourite and has put in some sterling performances on the pitch, making some important saves.
Having started out as back-up to Manchester City loanee Arijanet Muric when he first arrived, the 25-year-old has now established himself as first-choice between the posts.
And we discuss Samba’s form, as well as what that might mean for Muric come January, in our latest Forest video.
“When he came in, Lamouchi was very clear that Brice Samba was going to be one for the future and Aro Muric was one for now,” says Reds reporter Sarah Clapson.
“But he seems to have changed his mind because Brice Samba has come in and done so well.

“He’s made such a big difference.
“That’s no disrespect to Muric because he can be a good player. He’s very young and inexperienced.
“He’s got something about him, but he perhaps just needs to develop a bit more.
“When you’re pushing for promotion like Forest are, you perhaps need someone with that bit more composure and experience in goal. And that’s what Brice Samba has got.
