BoRabb Williams texted the photo of a 15 1//2-inch crappie and proclaimed, “Carl Burch caught the biggest crappie I’ve seen in Saganashkee Slough in YEARS.”

Saganashkee Slough is a relatively shallow Forest Preserves of Cook County lake in southwestern Cook County near Willow Springs. For many years, it has drawn anglers from a wide area to fish crappie from boat or shore. Click here for more information on Saganashkee Slough.

FOTW, the celebration of big fish and their stories (the stories matter, as this one shows) around Chicago fishing, runs Wednesdays in the paper Sun-Times. The online posting here at https://chicago.suntimes.com/outdoors goes up at varied days of the week, depending on what is going on the wide world of the outdoors.
