Craft booze and cheese drive-thru to return this weekend

The timing of The Cider Box's new taproom opening couldn't have been worse, just days before the lockdown was enforced.

But the owner of the craft cider company, which is moving to Bristol from Shepton Mallet, hasn't been twiddling his thumbs waiting for things to return to normal.

Dan Heath has instead been delivering delicious cider to people all over the city - and last weekend he launched a craft booze and cheese drive-thru, which he claimed was the "world's first".

The one-stop shop for top quality cider, beer and cheese was so popular it's returning this weekend, on Saturday, May 23.

It will be in operation at the Cider Box's new home on Silverthorne Lane.

Dan said: "Our drive-thru last Saturday was a grand success, so we're doing it again this weekend.

"We're once again partnering with The Bristol Cheesemonger and Lost & Grounded brewery to bring fantastic cheese from independent makers and fine craft beer, alongside a huge array of tasty ciders.

"For cider drinkers there will be fresh varieties, rare one-offs and exclusives from producers across Europe.

"Thirsty folk looking to stock up on cider, beer and cheese from Bristol's finest are invited to come down on May 16 and fill their boots.

"There will be exclusive offers and mouthwatering deals to enjoy too."

The 39-year-old added that "all current guidelines and advice will be adhered to," with this service, which is operating as an off-licence with no consumption allowed on the premises.

Staff will again be social distancing and wearing protective equipment at all times, he said.

When the Cider Box's new HQ opens fully in a Victorian railway arch in St Philips after the lockdown is lifted, it will become Bristol's first cider taproom.

As well as producing its own cider on-site it will host events including pairing and tasting evenings, with a ping pong table and live DJs making it a destination worth visiting for people in all corners of the city.
