Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Toby Alderweireld capped off a memorable week, following the birth of his son, with a goal to help Spurs defeat Aston Villa 3-2 at Villa Park on Sunday afternoon.
The centre-back's day, though, started in the worst possible fashion as he netted a ninth-minute own-goal to hand Dean Smith's side an early lead.
But the Belgium international was to make up for his earlier error when he netted an impressive equaliser on 27 minutes, lashing the ball home from a corner.
Spurs would complete the turnaround just before half time when Heung-Min Son netted the rebound from his penalty that was saved by Pepe Reina.
Villa clawed themselves level just eight minutes into the second half when Bjorn Engels headed in from a corner before Spurs nicked all three points in the 94th minute when Son capitalised on an Engels error to fire past Reina for a second time.
After experiencing an afternoon of mixed emotions, Alderweireld was delighted to get all three points on the board, insisting that it was one his "best performances" following an eventful week, after the birth of his son.
Alderweireld, who signed a new contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in December, told Sky Sports after the game: "It was one of my best performances.
"It was a beautiful week for me with the birth of my son.
"My legs were no stop yesterday.
"I helped the lads with the goal. We showed a lot of character.
"At this stage of the competition we had to get three points. It's very important for us mentally to get three points."
The victory lifted Jose Mourinho's side back up to 5th in the Premier League table, leaving them just one point behind Chelsea, who face Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening.
