A beautiful orange Hunter's Moon will appear above Edinburgh tonight: here's what you need to know

Wrap up warm and look up to the sky tonight as you will be in for an incredible spectacle.

Tonight across the UK the sky will be illuminated by the Hunter's Moon - an amazing bright orange full moon with a 'halo'-like glow.

A Hunter’s Moon is the name given to the full moon that appears in October, named so after the hunts once carried out in preparation for winter.

When the Hunter’s Moon is visible while the sun is up, the moon’s brightness can make it appear as if there are two suns in the sky.

In addition, it is the only night of the month when the moon is in the sky the entire night.

For us here in Edinburgh, its annual appearance can be spied this year tonight (Sunday October 13) from 5.08pm. Remember to wrap up warm!

Remember to send us your photographs if you get a great snap - just email  news@edinburghlive.co.uk with your name and where you were.
