A. Akbar appointed District Police Chief (with pic)

A. Akbar, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Thrissur Range), has been appointed the new District Police Chief (Kozhikode city). He succeeds DIG A.V. George, who retired from service on Thursday.

Mr. Akbar, a first rank holder in LLM, cracked the Civil Services in 2005. He cleared the preliminary examinations while working as a sales tax officer. Putta Vimaladitya, who was waiting for posting after repatriation to the parent cadre, will succeed him as Deputy Inspector General of Police in the Thrissur range.

Mr. George, who started his professional life as Circle Inspector in 1988, retired from his current position after 34 years of service. It was in 2011 that he was conferred IPS. He took charge as District Police Chief in 2014 and continued in office till march 2015. After serving the department in higher posts in other districts, he was again posted here with the same responsibility in 2019.
