98.6% pass in Mohali, propel it to fourth place

CHANDIGARH: Government schools in the district secured an all-time high pass percentage of 98.60% in the Class XII exams under the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), the results of which were declared on Friday. The performance propelled the district to fourth position in the state, up seven places from last time, said board chairman Yograj Sharma. In 2020, Mohali had managed 93.16% pass percentage.

This time 7,451 of 7,557 students passed the exam. Last year, 6,881 of 6410 had cleared it.

Ropar district topped the list, achieving 99.57% pass percentage. Patiala with 99.08% and Muktsar Sahib with 99.06% came second and third.

Sharma said, “In Mohali, we have also applied the formula of enhancement of teacher’s ability through capacity building and regular monitoring of students’ performance subject-wise. Teachers paid extra attention to students in a subject they were weak.” He added that this experiment proved successful in bringing out a better performance.
