BHOPAL: More than 82% of the total targeted or eligible population of Madhya Pradesh has been fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
However, in terms of percentage of those who have received first dose so far and have also received the second dose, after health care and frontline workers, it is the senior citizens who are in the fully vaccinated category.
As per the official records till Saturday, 99.37% of 4.95 lakh health care workers have received both the doses. Around 5.45 lakh frontline workers have received the first dose of vaccine and of these 98.66 % have also received the second dose. Elderly aged above 60 years, as 91.43% of 65.4 lakh elderly have received the second dose as well so far.
People aged between 45 and 60 years or middle aged persons — among those who have so far received the first dose of vaccine in state— are also close to elderly people in getting fully vaccinated. Of the 1.12 crore such people who have received the first dose of vaccine till now in MP, 91.39% have got the second dose.
People aged between 18 years and 45 years are among those where still a considerable number of people who are yet to receive the second dose of vaccine. Only 85.87% of the 3.29 crore beneficiaries got the first dose, have also been given the second dose.
Around 5.18 crore first doses have been administered of which 4.56 crore have also received the second dose. Thus 88% of those who have received the first dose have also received the second dose of vaccine. However, as eligible population for vaccination in the state was estimated to be 5.49 crore, only 82% of the eligible population in state is fully vaccinated till now.
