90th edition of Dumfries Guid Nychburris set to live long in the memory

The 90th edition of Guid Nychburris will live long in the memory.

After a two-year hiatus thousands of people filled Dumfries to enjoy the festivities.

The cavalcade, including Cornet Ross Findlater and Cornet’s Lass Robyn Peden, toured the area for various ceremonies on Saturday before arriving back in the High Street at midday.

They were greeted by a huge crowd of people to witness the first Guid Nychburris Day since 2019.

People basked in the sun as Queen of the South Kady Kirkpatrick was crowned.

The traditional parade took place with results of that, and other events throughout the week, on the following pages.

Guid Nychburris Festival Association chairman John Caskie said: “It was just absolutely amazing.

“We couldn’t believe the amount of people who were out in the streets.

“There was a buzz through the High Street all day.”
