90-year-old man dies after being hit by van in Croydon

A pensioner has died in hospital after a collision involving a van in south London.

The man, aged 90, was rushed to hopsital with life-threatening injuries following the collision on Friday September 15 shortly after 11.30am. He died on Tuesday.

Metropolitan Police officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance were called to the junction of A23 Brighton Road and Woodfield Hill in Coulsdon.

The driver of the van stopped at the scene but was not arrested.

The Met is urging any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage of the collision to speak to officers.

The force said on Thursday: “Detectives have carried out a number of enquiries and are keen to hear from any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police.

“They are also asking for anyone with dash cam footage who was in the area at the time of the collision to come forward.

“The victim’s family have been informed and continue to be supported by officers from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command.”
