As the latest season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? comes to an end, TLC has announced the season premiere of a separate spin-off show, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way.
The show, which follows “American men and women who fall in love with partners from distant lands travel to their home countries to begin their married lives abroad”, is now in its third season and is considered by fans to be the best of the franchise’s several spin-offs.
Since premiering in 2014, 90 Day Fiancé has received high audience viewer ratings, more than almost any other cable television show in the US according to recent viewing figures. Its two spin off shows, Happily Ever After and The Other Way, have similarly high ratings.
Here’s the run down on returning couple, Jenny and Sumit.
According to a statement from Discovery, “After moving to India and back several times in the wake of extreme relationship challenges, Jenny is now a year into living in India and is losing hope over whether she will ever get to marry Sumit.
“Her visa has been extended due to the pandemic, but knowing that can’t last forever leads the couple to consider how else Jenny might be able to stay in the country.
“Ultimately, however, Sumit continues to push for his parents’ approval to marry, and a surprising solution is presented: Sumit’s mother offers to move in with them in order to train Jenny to become more of a traditional Indian daughter-in-law.”
Sumit’s family still aren’t happy about the match and seemingly don’t want him to marry Jenny. An explosive clip from the season’s new trailer suggests all is not well: the couple are seen in a heated argument which results in Jenny storming off at the end.
The couple are set to be one of the most talked about of the series.
The show will return on Sunday 29 August from 8 pm ET/PT.
Each new episode of the show will be available to stream on Fridays, exclusively on Discovery Plus.
