A child has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Larkhall this afternoon.

The nine-year-old girl was involved with the crash on Hareleeshill Road around 3.30pm today.

Police and emergency services closed the road and First Bus announced that their 251 services would be diverted to Larkhall via Hareleeshill Road, Keir Hardie Road and Machlan Road, and to Wishaw via Machlan Road and Keir Hardie Road.

The buses have since returned to normal routes and the road has reopened, Police confirmed.

The child has been taken to hospital by ambulance, however her condition is currently unknown.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Hareleeshill Road, Larkhall around 3.30pm on Wednesday, 9 June, following a crash involving a 9-year-old pedestrian.

"She has been taken to hospital by ambulance. The road was closed for a short time and has since reopened.”
