9 things to consider about Nick Foles' quest to become Bears' starting quarterback

CHICAGO _ The Chicago Bears' highly anticipated quarterback competition started late and has ended quickly, with Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles offering closing arguments at in practice this week as to why they deserve the job.

From here, Matt Nagy and his offensive coaching staff will head to deliberations, needing to finalize a verdict before Week 1 begins and preparations for the Sept. 13 season opener against the Lions intensify.

Will Trubisky keep the starting role he has held since October 2017? Or will the Bears feel more confident turning over the offense to Foles?

As the week began, Nagy seemed conflicted _ or at least indecisive _ about which way to lean. He wouldn't say when a public announcement of the starter would come because he wasn't sure when the Bears would reach a decision.

"We're just really honestly not there yet," he said.

Nagy added after practice Wednesday that the decision is "not clear-cut."

As the Bears ponder their big decision at Halas Hall, here are nine things to consider about Foles' quest to become the Week 1 starter.
