9 spooky events happening in Leeds for Halloween 2019

With not long now until Halloween 2019, here's a look at our guide to the freakishly fun things to do in Leeds over the scariest period of the year.

We’ve taken a look at what is planned and you are in for lots of treats - no tricks, we promise!

As we all know little kids and big kids love Halloween so our guide has taken into account all ages.

Below you’ll find things happening which will make for great family days out as well as nights on the town for those who are looking for late-night Halloween fun.

Have a scroll down and see what takes your fancy.  If something catches your eye, all that is left to do is find the perfect Halloween costume!

Spooky Spooktacular

Where: Temple Newsam Road, Leeds LS15 0AE

When: Thursday, October 31

This spookfest takes over Temple Newsam House for a Halloween event about Tudor ghosts. Also running from Saturday, October 26 until Sunday, November 3 is a Beastly Creepy Crawlies session which is part of the venue’s half-term holidays fun.

Halloween scarecrow trail

Where: Lotherton Hall, Aberford, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS25 3EB

When: Saturday, October 26 until Sunday, November 3

Visitors will come face-to-face with lots of scarecrow ghouls as well as having the chance to try their hand at many Halloween-themed arts and crafts activities.

Trunk or treat

Where: The Merrion Centre, Leeds, LS2 8NG

When: Between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, October 26 and Sunday, October 27

Running in collaboration with CitiPark, Trunk or Treat is a daytime alternative to traditional trick-or-treating.

A car will be in the car park of the Merrion Centre where visitors will be able to take their pick of hundreds of free sweets, treats and more. This is something your little ones can enjoy while you do a spot of weekend shopping in town.

Frights, Camera, Action 2

Where: Emmerdale Studio Experience, 27 Burley Road, Leeds LS3 1JT

When: Between 6pm and 8pm on Saturday, October 26

This event is strictly for over 16s given how frightening it is. Visitors to the Emmerdale Studio Experience will encounter some strange paranormal activities at the attraction and can expect to come face-to-face with a mystery guest.

Those attending are warned to expect strobe lighting, loud noises, special effects and live actors.

FrightFest in The Library

Where: The Leeds Library, 18 Commercial Street, Leeds, LS1 6AL

When: Between 2pm and 3pm on Saturday, October 26

If you want to try out a new experience this Halloween you can visit the Leeds Library, in Commercial Street, to create your own spooky tale during a workshop which is being taken by award-winning author SJ Bradley.

Sneaky Experience

Where: Kirkstall Abbey

When: Friday, November 1 until Saturday, November 2

There’s outdoor cinema screenings and then there’s Sneaky Experience. The team go out of their way to create some immersive entertainment. Over the weekend, there will be screenings of Ghostbusters, Hocus Pocus and The Lost Boys.

Halloween craft sessions

Where: The Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills, Canal Road, Leeds, LS12 2QF

When: Tuesday, October 29 until Thursday, October 31

This could be a perfect family day out with ‘real’ witches teaching you the freaky truth behind Halloween predictions. Those attending can make costumes and take part in pumpkin carving sessions.

Inzombiefest

Where: Beaver Works, 36 Whitehouse Street, Leeds, LS10 1AD

When: From 10pm until 6am on Saturday, October 26

Obviously, this is a Halloween event catering to an adult audience.

This all-nighter will be happening across five arenas with those at the party all set to be dressed like zombies. You’ll encounter haunted warehouses, creepy clubrooms and bone-shaking basements. 

You’ll hear lots of bass music, house and tech.

Bongo’s Bingo

Where: Brandon Street, Leeds LS12 2EB

When: From 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 30

The popular night which reinvents bingo is having a Halloween special edition with everyone attending being encouraged to come in their best outfits.

You’ll be able to win some really cool and incredibly random prizes during the proceedings. This is another Halloween event for big kids.

Go Nuts at Donuts

Where: The Warehouse, 19-21 Somers Street, Leeds LS1 2RG

When: Between 11pm and 4am on Thursday, October 31

And our final inclusion is a Halloween club party with free doughnuts which sounds like an absolute dream to us.

It’s happening at the Warehouse where you’ll hear all your favourite party anthems.
